Design Research & Systemic Thinking

Systemic Thinking Giga Map

A SIX-MONTH PROJECT

Research

A collaboration project with Harvard University called "Whole Life: Designing Life After COVID-19" reunites and analyzes qualitative data through ethnographic interviews about how people in Mexico cope with the pandemic, resulting in a Giga Map on the systemic trajectory of the use of the face mask.

I conducted ten interviews via Zoom, pulled out the relevant insights, and implemented concepts linking design research, systemic thinking, quality data, and systems design flow, among other design tools.

Deliverables

Giga Map on the systemic trajectory of the use of the face mask. Systematic research on the environmental and social impact of face masks in the pandemic answers the question, “What has been the trajectory of the use of the mask?”

With the use of data humanism, the graphics were created. The quantitative research obtained on the previous project was implemented with tools like systemic flow charts, user personas, and a timeline of the facemask’s evolution through the pandemic, with the objective that we can develop a solution for the waste the mask is causing due to the increasing need the pandemic caused.
